Common eBook Formatting Mistake: Spaces in the File Name

eBook formatting mistakes

Updated June 2017.

Here is something you want to avoid when preparing your file for eBook conversion.

If you are making your own eBook files or setting up files for BookBaby conversion, get in the habit of leaving spaces out of your file names. Spaces cause formatting issues.

So rather than “my really cool illustration.jpg,” use “myreallycoolillustration.jpg” or “my_really_cool_illustration.jpg.”

Spaces aren’t read the same way by all operating systems, and since your eBook is designed to be viewed on all different kinds of screens, it can affect how your book displays.
