Do You Get A 1099-MISC Form As A BookBaby Author?

bookbaby author tax question

It’s tax time, and that means it’s also time for that yearly question:

Is BookBaby going to send an IRS 1099-MISC form for book income?

The answer is no. We do not send tax forms to you for sales of your books.

Why? It’s very simple: You are selling with us on a consignment basis, in compliance with U.S. law. Our accounting and tax experts are in complete agreement on this matter.

But please know that you are responsible for reporting your income for taxation purposes based on the laws of your state or country. If you have any questions about how to report your income for your taxes, please consult a tax professional.

Need to know how much you earned through book sales last year?

You can filter and download a yearly sales from within your account by following these steps:

  1. Log into your account.
  2. Click the “Accounting Dashboard” on the right side of the screen.
  3. Click on “Filter Sales”.
  4. Select the date and other parameters you would like to look and select “Download Filtered Report”.
