Congrats to one of my fellow BookBaby team members, Jeanine M. Reed, who was chosen by the Association of Independent Authors to be featured on their homepage this month.
A blog-to-book project done right
When people at trade shows and book fairs ask me for good examples of “blog-to-book” projects, Jeanine’s Small Indulgences always comes to mind first (and not just because I work with her). It’s a great concept: a dessert cookbook for people who are health & fitness conscious. Small portions. Big taste.
Jeanine is an avid runner, but she’s also got a sweet tooth and loves baking. ”I divide my time equally between eating sweets and burning them off,” she says.
So she combined those passions and started a blog called Small Indulgences to share her recipes for small, tasty treats, as well as tales of her mis/adventures in exercise, social-life, and more. After a year or so, she’d posted enough recipes on her blog to put a book together, and by that point most of the work was already done! She used BookBaby (of course) to design covers for both a print and eBook edition of her book, and then distributed Small Indulgences worldwide.
Jeanine was also able to leverage her existing blog readers to help her promote the book, and this month– the Association of Independent Authors has put her on their homepage! Check out Jeanine’s AIA Member Spotlight.
Oh, and when she’s not baking, blogging, or jogging, Jeanine uses her mad and mysterious computer skills to keep BookBaby’s database healthy and up-to-date.
