Steven Spatz, Chief Marketing Officer for BookBaby reports from the front lines at Book Expo America:
Day One at this year’s BEA event in New York City saw BookBaby participate in U-Pub-U, a pre-show event targeted towards aspiring writers seeking to learn more about the self-publishing phenomena sweeping the publishing world. Over 500 would-be authors attended a day filled with panel discussions and lectures from industry experts around the globe
BookBaby President Brian Felsen participated in the Jump On The Right Side Of Publishing panel, devoted to tips, advice and case studies of self-publishing success stories.
Other panels included such timely topics as: Sell Through: How to turn readers into buyers, The Role of Agents In The New Publishing World, and Building The Buzz For Books — The New Book Publicity.
Meanwhile outside the conference rooms, I got the opportunity to meet and chat dozens of BookBaby authors who’ve published their books through us, and their feedback and experiences provided valuable information for how we can make BookBaby even better!
If the sheer size of this show is any indication, the publishing business is alive and well. The mammoth Jacob Javits Convention Center in the heart of New York City is filled with hundreds of exhibitors showing off their wares and services for thousands of authors, agents, publicists and other industry attendees discovering the latest and greatest in publishing.
